Martin Luther Lutheran Church Harvest Festival Sunday
The annual Martin Luther Lutheran Church Harvest Festival will be held this Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Carmine Hall. Worship service begins at 9:30 a.m. Confirmation classes ending in the years 4 and 9 will be recognized. Krause Duo will lead the worship music.
A meal of pork ribeye and sausage, potatoes, and green beans will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meal tickets are $15. A drawing will be held and those tickets are one for $20 or three for $50. Tickets may be purchased at the church office and Carmine State Bank. Desserts will be available for a donation.
There will also be pumpkin carving and activities for children.

Burn Ban
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department reminds everyone that a burn-ban is in effect for Fayette County. This means no burning of any sort. The firefighters appreciate your cooperation.
Carmine Night Out
Carmine Night Out was held on Oct. 3 at the Carmine Fire Station with about 100 to 125 adults and children from the city and surrounding area attending. Courtney Kieke, president of the Carmine Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the group and thanked them for coming.
The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post 338 led a flag retirement ceremony along with RT-C 4-H members, Peter Kieke, Morgan Williams, and Grant Kieke, assisting as readers.
Carmine Mayor Wade Eilers reported that one of the city’s water wells is back in service with new equipment installed. He gave recognition to city council members and employees for the good job they are doing. The city is operating within the budget. Independence Street has been paved on the north side of town.
Justice of the Peace Jamie Moreau stated that her case load has been increasing and asked for eligible volunteers to be selected for jury duty.
Deputy Jason Fowler and Constable Roger Wunderlich warned people of phone scams. Be aware of unlawful suspicious activity in the area, but do not approach the persons. Take the license plate number and call the Sheriff’s Department.
Clint Eilers and Michael Sacks from the RT-C ISD school board gave information on Proposition A.
David Mohr with the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department introduced the current members of the Junior Firefighter Program. There are five others that started in the program and have moved up into full-status Fire Fighters.
A crew with PHI Petroleum Helicopters Air Medical landed in front of the fire station and spoke about their services. They are stationed in Columbus.
Marlene Waak talked about the Carmine Lions Club and renovation of the Carmine Hall.
Hot dogs and drinks were served along with snow cones and cotton candy. Winners were drawn for the door prizes.
Fall Festival
Round Top-Carmine ISD Fall Festival is on Saturday, Oct. 19 at the elementary school in Round Top. There will be lots of fun activities for the children. It is sponsored by the RT-C Parents’ Club.
Pre-orders are being taken for the meal which will be served from 4-6:30 p.m. Choices are grilled beef burger, chili cheese hot dog, and plain hot dog. For more information contact the elementary school at (979) 966-6116. Deadline is Oct. 10. A few will be sold at the door.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine Jr. High and high school girls and boys athletes participated in the district cross-country meet at Fayetteville High School on Oct. 10.
Varsity volleyball team played at Prairie Lea on Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. Jr. High and varsity will play at Waelder on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m.
Oct. 14 was a holiday for Columbus Day.
Student Council led the “See You at the Pole” event on Sept. 25. Speakers were present along with students, staff, and members of the community.
Central Texas Food Truck The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church this Saturday, Oct. 19 from 10-11 a.m. at the junction of FM 1291 and FM 2145.
Food distribution will be drive-thru method with volunteers distributing and loading the pre-boxed food into each vehicle as the client drives through the line. Make sure your back seats, trunks, and truck beds have room for the boxed food.
They are in need of volunteers to help with the distribution. Ledbetter Bingo Bingo in Ledbetter is this Sunday, Oct. 20 from 2-4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center.
Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) are welcome to enjoy the afternoon. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes.
Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation.
This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. Carmine Bingo Bingo is coming to the Carmine Hall. The first night will be Friday, Oct. 25 beginning at 5 p.m. at 300 N. Hauptstrasse. Chopped barbecue sandwiches by South-Fork BBQ with chips and pickle will be available for $12. Drinks will be sold by the hall. There will be twelve regular games and one coverall game.
Carmine 42 Domino Club The Carmine 42 Domino Club met on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at JW’s Steakhouse.
After enjoying a delicious lunch, eight competitive games of 42 were played among the partners determined by drawing for positions at tables.
The high-scoring partners were Jeanette Schoenst and LaVerne Albers with a score of 2107 and they played three hands of 84. Second highestscoring partners were Betty Porter and Edith Flinn with a score of 1686 and they played two hands of 84. Partners Myrt Meinkowsky and Marlene Waak played one hand of 84. Carol Naegeli and Linda Mattocks played two hands of 84. Everyone enjoyed the challenging games and the delightful conversations. This group will be ready for more games on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

Visitor Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot and Museum is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
