Man Burned in Car Fire Tuesday

Firefighters responding to Tuesday’s scene.

On Tuesday evening around 8:14 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting a vehicle fire on FM 2145 near Goehring Rd. The Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene with Deputies Wesley Arrison and Jason Fowler. Upon arrival a 2011 GMC Acadia was under a carport next to a residence on fire. The vehicle was pulled away from the residence and carport. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters. The owner of the vehicle suffered burns to his legs trying to extinguish the fire. EMS Unit Medic 1, and EMS 3 Supervisor were notified and responded to the scene. The owner of the vehicle was transported by Medic 1 to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin.

The cause of the fire started from a barbecue pit which was knocked over and ignited combustible materials while working on the vehicle.
