Locals Trying to Fix Old Shorthorns Sign
Shorthorns Forever Association is launching a fund to replace the beloved Schulenburg Shorthorns sign on Highway 90 west of Schulenburg. They are asking the community, alumni, fans, and supporters to help make this project a reality. Donations can be made by contacting Holly Bartek, Mike “Bubba” Olle, or through the Shorthorns Forever website at www.shorthornsforever.com. Please be sure to note that your donation is for the Sign Fund. There is an option to select the sign fund on the donate page. The sign has been a local landmark for decades. The sign has fallen into disrepair in recent years. Shorthorns Forever Association President Holly Bartek said the cost to restore the sign is estimated at $3,200, but that doesn’t include tree trimming that will need to take place. Any donated funds above the amount needed to restore the sign will go towards ongoing maintenance. Shorthorns Forever is a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to supporting Schulenburg ISD and fostering fellowship among members and Shorthorn supporters.
