Local veteran Dustin Blackwell and a team of parachutists from Texas Skydiving in Lexington jumped out of a World War II C-47 Skytrain over the Frisch Auf Golf Course on Friday, July 3. The plane, known as “That’s All, Brother,” led the main airborne division in the DDay Invasion at Normandy on June 6, 1944. “That’s All, Brother” belongs to the Commemorative Air Force Central Texas Wing based out of San Marcos.

The plane performed a low pass over the golf course, where hundreds of locals congregated to witness the jump. Then it climbed to 5,000 feet of elevation, where the jump team departed. At first, they appeared as specks in the sky. The first two made a fast decent. David Moore, the owner of Texas Skydiving, unfurled a 1,000 sq. ft. American flag. On the ground, the crowd joined in to sing the National Anthem.

After everyone landed safely, a large crowd of people flowed onto the course to meet and congratulate the jump team. – Andy Behlen
