Local Teens at Work
Summer jobs are common for teenagers, especially in small towns like La Grange. Especially now, it feels like everytime you go anywhere in La Grange you see your classmates and neighbors.
Madi Adams, a rising sophomore at La Grange High School, is working at her moms company used to refer dietitians, Piland and Associates. “My favorite things about working here are the flexible hours and getting work with my mom.” According to Madi, she handles all of the paperwork and filing for the company.
Faith Greenwood, a rising junior at La Grange High School, works at 6G Heritage farm in Weimar. 6G heritage farm is a cut flower farm. An average work day for faith involves working outside planting and pulling weeds, then going inside and processing flowers or making bouquets. “I work at 6G because I love working outside and I plan on growing my own flowers one day,” She continues, “I also love the people I work with.”
Tess Williams is working at Camp Tejas coffee shop, where she’s worked every summer since last year. According to Tess, she works at the register taking orders, helps make drinks and restocking. Tess enjoys her job because,”It’s a very positive atmosphere especially because it’s a Christian camp, and I like taking a leadership role when it comes to opening and closing the shop.”
Deacon Wick has worked at the Randolph Recreation Center for about one month, where he supervises the trips and other activities the rec center holds. According to Deacon, he likes working because, “ I get to hang out with kids and have fun, I have a lot of experience working with kids because I volunteer at my church.”
Avery Griffin is a waitress at Ere’s Italian Restaurant. Avery has worked since December of last year, where she was originally a hostess and was later promoted to waitress. “I like getting to meet new people and talk to our regulars” she continues, “My family comes in sometimes, so serving them is always fun.”
