Local Mission Team in Myanmar When Massive Earthquake Hit
Pastor Chris Little and a mission team from Crosspoint Community Church in La Grange were in Myanmar last week when that region was struck by a massive earthquake.
The church posted: “Our mission team that is in Myanmar has been in contact with the church leadership. They are safe and will be making the journey home soon. They were able to serve 200+ people at the clinic, including the staff and children at a nearby orphanage.”
We reached out to Little via email and were able to get this update from him as he and his medical mission team headed back to Texas: “We are safe. We were on our way from Pathein, Myanmar, back to Yangon for our flights. The team has been talking about it and we probably didn’t feel the impact of the earthquake because we were driving down very bumpy roads in the back country. Obviously, we had limited phone access already. So, when everyone was checking in, we were unavailable.
“Our Crosspoint team spent a week between Yangon and Pathein. In Yangoon, we did a medical clinic for the Ethne Family Home and did check ups of all the kids and the adult care takers. A few of the villagers also came by once word got out that were there.
“We then went to Pathein and did three days of clinic in partnership with Ethne Global Services & Pathein Church. We served over 200 patients in four days. We were able to treat everything from High Blood Pressure and Diabetes to the removal of cysts and a carpel tunnel release. We did a lot pain injections - carrying heavy objects on your head creates some neck, back, and knee pain.
“While the clinic was going on, we also did one of the first trainings for pastors and lay leaders for the Ethne Global Seminary. The students need to complete eight courses to earn a Diploma.
“Crosspoint has begun a partnership with Ethne Global Services to establish a medical clinic in Pathein, Myanmar. Our goal is to take teams of doctors, nurses, dentists and other medical professionals to bring health, life, and the good news of Jesus.”
