Local Man Tries to Burn Down His Own Home With Family Members Still Inside

A La Grange man is in jail after attempting to burn down his own home with family members inside.

On Monday, May 12, at about 3:35 p.m. La Grange police officers Mitchell Maxwell and Troy Stevens responded to a home at 699 E. Lafayette St. in La Grange where they found that Ramon Efrain Garcia, 30, had allegedly thrown Molotov cocktails filled with flammable liquid through the window of his home.

The La Grange fire department was called, but the home did not catch on fire.

Garcia was still at the home at the time the officers arrived, and he was arrested.

He is facing several charges including arson, aggravated assault/family violence and endangering a child, because there were children inside the home at the time of the incident.
