Local Leader Elected to Texans for the Arts Statewide Board Spot
Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) is proud to announce that its executive director, Sandra Borne, has been elected to the board of Texans for the Arts (TFA), the only statewide arts advocacy organization in Texas. Borne’s appointment strengthens the voice of rural communities in shaping statewide arts policy and amplifies the importance of equitable access to the arts across all corners of Texas.
TFA, led by executive director, Chris Kiley, champions the vital role the arts play in Texas’ economic, educational, and cultural life. “Borne’s addition to the board underscores TFA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring rural Texas is not only represented but also prioritized in conversations about public funding and policy for the arts,” said Kiley.
“For over two decades, Arts for Rural Texas has demonstrated how vibrant, creative experiences can thrive in small communities,” said Borne. “Joining the TFA board is an exciting opportunity to advocate for all rural Texans who deserve access to art programs that inspire, educate, and unite.”
In her leadership role at ARTS, Borne has been instrumental in expanding arts education for children, launching dynamic community projects, such as the Fayetteville Courthouse Music Series, and spotlighting the creative heartbeat of Fayetteville and surrounding areas. Her strategic vision aligns with TFA’s mission to amplify the arts as essential to strong, thriving communities statewide.
Borne’s board appointment is a significant step forward in the effort to ensure that the stories, talent, and needs of rural Texans continue to influence state-level arts advocacy
