Mrs. Berger was elected to the National Nominating Committee from the Congressional 27 Caucus at the Texas GOP Convention in June, helping select those Members- at-Large as delegates and alternates to the national convention. Texas gets 150 total delegates and 150 total alternates, 36 of each category (d/a) are chosen by the Republican Party of Texas National Nominating Committee from a list of elected officials and those who applied to the committee. All 300 representatives from Texas are bound to President Trump on the first round of voting.
Texas Alternates to the National are designated to replace a specific delegate. Should their Delegate need to leave the floor of the Convention the Alternate assumes the duties and voting privileges of the delegate until said delegate returns. If their Delegate is not able to return, the Alternate replaces the delegate for the remainder of the Convention.
