Lickskillet Days Festival this Weekend in Fayetteville

The annual Lickskillet Days Festival is being held by the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce this Saturday and Sunday on the square. Enjoy all kinds of food and goods for sale and check out the schedules for the parade, live and silent auctions and live music on the website, www.greaterfayettevillechamber. org and the official Facebook page for the festival, https://www.facebook.com/ FayettevilleLickskilletDays/.

Proceeds from the Lickskillet festivities fund the Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce activities and support community projects.

City Council 

The next City Council meeting is this Monday at 7 pm. in the City offices. City Council meetings are held every third Monday of the month.

Repairs for replacing the roof and the rafters on the old firehouse have been approved. A portion of the costs are covered by the Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation.

Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department Fire and EMS Call Report for September: Sept. 1, First responder call to assist Medic 2 on FM 2503 at Ross Prairie Church Rd.

Sept. 14, Grass fire on FM 1291 at Bell St.

Sept. 28, Mutual aid call, assist La Grange and Ellinger fire departments at a grass and barn fire on St. Hwy 71 westbound at Rocky Top Rd.

Residents are reminded by Chief Randy Noviske that Fayette County is now under a burn ban as of Sep 26.

Senior Citizen Bingo 

The annual Senior Citizens Bingo was held Oct. 6 at St John’s parish hall. The Catholic Youth Ministry of St. John and St. Mary parishes organized the event and refreshments were provided by the Catholic Daughters of America No. 1440.

Sarrazin Building Sold 

Dorothy and Hal Stall sold the Sarrazin Building in the square, held an estate sale and are temporarily living in an independent living apartment in Schulenburg. They’re looking forward to moving into their new home being built on their daughter’s property in Weimer.

“We have thoroughly enjoyed living in and being property owners in Fayetteville for the past 50 years, and we cherish and miss our friendships there,” stated Dorothy. “It is certainly sad to say ‘farewell’ to Fayetteville. In the future, we’ll keep up with what’s going on in Fayetteville through this informative column.” The Stalls will be sorely missed.

Camera Club Exhibit 

You can only catch the photo exhibit presented by the Live Oak Camera Club at the Nesbitt Memorial Library till the end of October. The library is located at 305 Radio Lane in Columbus. For more information about the exhibit, call Jerry Brown at (979) 9424905. 

Mobile Food Truck

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. till 11 a.m. this Saturday. Drive thru only. Backseats, trunks and truck beds need to be cleared out to make room for the bags and boxes of food.

St. Paul Lutheran 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.

St. John the Baptist Catholic St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.

Fayetteville Brethren 

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
