With a trumpet in hand and a heart full of kindness, La Grange High School student Lauren Rusek helped make a wish come true for a local child battling a critical illness.

At Newman’s Castle in Bellville, the young wish kid was crowned “Queen for a Day” in a fairytale celebration made possible by Make-A-Wish. Lauren performed the royal trumpet fanfare as the Queen made her grand entrance — a moment that brought smiles, cheers, and even a few tears.

“This was magic,” Lauren shared. “Seeing her face light up — I’ll never forget it.”

Lauren’s entire family joined in to help, including her sister Sophie, friend Kerianah Krieg, and dad Michael Rusek.

This royal wish was a true community effort, with volunteers dressing as knights and castle staff to create a oncein- a-lifetime experience — reminding us that wishes aren’t just dreams, they’re acts of love and hope.

Make-A-Wish relies entirely on local volunteers and donors to bring joy to children in our area. To help grant more wishes, visit www.texgulf. wish.org.

Because sometimes, all it takes is a trumpet, a castle, and a hometown heart.
