LHS Regional UIL Results

The La Grange High School UIL academic team competed at the regional academic meet at Stephen F Austin State University on Saturday, April 25. Nineteen LHS students competed in the following events: accounting, calculator applications, copy editing, current issues and events, editorial writing, feature writing, headline writing, literary criticism, mathematics, number sense, ready writing, social studies, extemporaneous persuasive speaking, prose interpretation, and science. Two students qualified for the state Academic Meet, which will be held at The University of Texas at Austin on Tues, May 20 (they were pictured on the front page of Tuesday’s edition):

• Riley Lowe - 1st place Ready Writing (Coach Laurie

• Eleanor Carey - 2nd place - Literary Criticism (Coach Laurie Stork)

Also medaling at the Regional meet:

• John Kaspar, Jodie Kaspar, Ivanna Caceres-Anaya, Israel Orona - 2nd place team - Accounting (Coach Susie Morgan)

• John Kaspar - 6th place individual - Accounting (Coach Susie Morgan)

• Eleanor Carey - 4th place & alternate to State - Copy Editing (Coach Lucy Carr)

• Camden Coltrain - 4th place and alternate to State Headline Writing (Coach Lucy Carr)

• Riley Lowe - 5th place - Extemporaneous Persuasive Speaking (Coach Laurie Stork)
