LHS One-Act Students Win Awards at Area

After advancing at the district and bi-district competitions, the La Grange High School One-Act Play was not chosen as one of the three advancing plays at the Area competition April 8 in Bastrop. The LHS play was “These Shining Lives” by Melanie Marnich. The play is based on the true story of women who worked for the Radium Dial Company - a watch factory based in Ottawa, Illinois. The play showcases the danger women faced in this workplace and highlights the wider lack of concern companies had for protecting the health of their employees. Four members of the La Grange show did earn individual awards from the judges. Pictured, left to right, in Bastrop are those award winners Kameron Behrens (all-star crew), Molly Hudson (honorable mention all-star cast), Riley Lowe (all-star cast) and Deacon Wick (honorable mention all-star cast). The play will now be performed for the public two times – Friday, May 9, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. The shows are free but you can make a free-will donation at the door that will benefit the theater program.
