LG’s Karstedt Crowned Texas Czech Slovak Little Princess
This past weekend on Saturday, July 12, in Ennis at the Sokol Hall, the Czech Heritage Society held their annual royalty pageant.
Five girls vied for the cherished title of the Texas Czech Slovak Little Princess. Lillie Karstedt (Fayette County Czech Slovak Little Princess for 2024-25 as well as 202526) and daughter of John and Bonny Karstedt of La Grange won the title of the State of Texas’ little princess. With this title Lillie will have to fulfill her royal duties by appearing in her Kroj (Czech Costume) with her sash and crown at 12 different state wide events where she will share about her heritage with other children in her age group.
Lillie is 7th generation Fayette County. Her Czech ancestors are the Zapalac Family (arriving in Fayette County in 1855), the Kulhanek Family (arriving in Fayette County in 1879), the Bohac Family (arriving in Fayette County in 1902), and Hubanek Family (arriving in Fayette County in 1876). Remembering our ancestors and our heritage and sharing with future generations is so very important. It brings so many of our local families together and gives us a sense of kinship and solidarity.
She is sponsored by the Fayette County Czech Heritage Society.
