LG Summer Rec. Camp Filling Fast, Pool Opens June 1
The La Grange Recreation Department has geared up for a summer full of fun activities for local youth.
Week-long day camps for kids entering kindergarten through the sixth grade begin this week and run through the week of Aug. 1-5. The camps are limited to 30 participants each week. Day camp hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sign-ups are on a first-come, first serve basis.
La Grange Recreation Director Janet Rangel said the camps are filling up fast but a few spots are still available, especially during the week of June 20-24. Rangel said each week will include at least two field trips to attractions within 90 miles of La Grange.
Campers will be provided with a morning and afternoon snack, but parents need to pack their child a lunch each day. Fees for the summer day camps include a $20 registration fee plus $100 per child per week. Sibling discounts are $90 for a second child and $80 for a third child.
In addition, the Recreation Department will offer open court at the Randolph Recreation Center this summer Monday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Daily admission is $1. Youth ages eight and older can access the court without supervision to play basketball and other games.
Rangel said the La Grange Swimming Pool will open for the summer on June 1. The pool will be open Wednesday through Sunday. Open swim hours are 1-7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 1-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Entry fees are $1 for youth and senior citizens and $2 for adults. Children under three get in for free. Children under eight and non-swimmers must be accompanied by a responsible teen or adult.
