LG Man Dies in Schulenburg Crash

A man from La Grange died in a crash in Schulenburg Monday night, Feb. 3.

The wreck happened around 7:30 p.m. when a fourdoor car ran into the back of an 18-wheeler on US 77. The crash occurred near the city limits on the north side of town. The driver of the car died in the wreck. He was the only occupant.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated the crash, but the full report was not ready in time for this publication. DPS identified the deceased as Javier Maldonado-Roa, 32 of La Grange.

Schulenburg Police, Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Fayette County EMS all responded to the scene, along with DPS.

Emergency responders shut down the highway from Hollas Real Estate to Winkler’s A/C until around 10 p.m.
