LG City Manager Reacts to Planter Boxes’ Fall Decor
La Grange City Manager Jack Thompson said he likes the new Fall decorations in the planter boxes on the Square.
The City is responsible for the planter boxes, which the State installed last year to discourage jaywalking on Travis St. Originally, the City was going to plant some landscaping in the boxes. But during construction, no one thought to install a water line. So they’ve sat empty for a year while the City decides what to do with them.
A group of volunteers set up some fall decorations in the planter boxes last Tuesday. They didn’t exactly have permission. But no one seems to mind, including Thompson.
“It looks really nice,” Thompson said. “It paves the way for some ideas of what to do with the planter boxes.”
Thompson said the City is thinking about hiring an artist to do something with the planter boxes.
“We want to make it look good,” Thompson said. “This is a nice trial run to think about what it can look like.”
