LG City Council Awards Tourism Grants, Talks Mural
The La Grange City Council authorized nine tourism grants totaling $72,800 at their meeting last Monday.
Ten organizations applied for city tourism funding, which comes from hotel occupancy tax receipts. One of the organizations that applied for funding, the Texas Heroes Museum, failed to attend a mandatory informational meeting that was held on Jan. 13. As a result, he City’s tourism committee recommended against awarding their request for $10,000. After reviewing the other nine requests, the committee recommended funding as follows:
• $10,000 to the Texas Quilt Museum for marketing museum events and children’s programs;
• $10,000 to the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center for annual advertising costs;
• $5,000 to Rotary Club of La Grange for promoting Oktoberfest on the Square, which is set for Oct. 3;
• $10,000 to Friends of Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill for annual advertising costs;
• $10,000 to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse for advertising next year’s Sheriff’s Posse Rodeo, set for April 1617, 2027;
• $10,000 to the Fayette County Fair Association for promoting the 2027 County Fair;
• $4,000 to the Faison Preservation Society for advertising multiple events between October 2026 and September 2027;
• $10,000 to the Bugle Boy Foundation for promoting the arts through their approximately 90 live music events throughout the year;
• $3,800 to the Best Little Cowboy Gathering for advertising and promoting their event in March 2027.
The City Council voted unanimously to award the nine grants as recommended by the committee.
