Leopard Band Piles Up the Awards

La Grange High School’s Mighty Leopard Band competed in the Edna Invitational Marching Contest on Oct. 12. In all, 27 bands participated, and La Grange finished 3rd in class 4A (out of 11 4A bands, 4th out of 27 total bands) in the preliminaries round, also earning caption awards for Outstanding 4A Soloist for the low brass ensemble as well as Outstanding 4A Color Guard. The Leopard Band competed in the finals round against seven other bands and finished 2nd in the finals (the first-place band was from 6A Elkins High school). The band competes Saturday Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Giddings High school in the UIL Regional Marching Contest, seeking a bid to advance to the Area round.
