Lee County Sheriff Arrested

Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger was booked into his own jail Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated.

According to online records published by the Lee County Jail, the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Durrenberger, 38 of Giddings, for DWI. He was booked into the jail on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 6:52 a.m. He was released at 8:16 a.m., according to jail records. His bond was listed at $0.00. However, jail records state that “The charges and bail amounts may change after court appearances and may not be current.”

The Lee County Commissioners Court appointed Durrenberger as Sheriff in 2023 following the resignation of former Sheriff Casey Goetz. Voters elected Durrenberger as Sheriff in the 2024 Republican primary election with more than 88 percent of the vote. He went on to win the 2024 General Election unopposed. Durrenberger served as a Burleson County Sheriff’s Deputy prior to his appointment in Lee County. Before that, he served as a Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy.
