La Grange’s Top Students of Class of 2025 Honor Their Special Teachers

Jonathan Weishuhn (LHS Class of 2016) was the featured speaker. He now works at Google in Austin.

La Grange superintendent Andy McHazlett delivered closing remarks Wednesday.

Fayette County Attorney James Herbrich was the Master of Ceremonies.

Jackson Bennett is the son of David and Tara Bennett. He plans to go to Texas A&M and study Aerospace Engineering. He chose Molly Adams as his special teacher.

Camden Coltrain is the son of Khalil and Leslie Coltrain. He plans to attend Clemson or the University of Tennessee and study sports broadcasting. He chose Cameron Hammontree as his special teacher.

Walker Finch is the son of Jeremy and Amie Finch. He plans to attend Texas A&M and go to veterinary school. He chose Tara Bennett as his special teacher.

Ely Glisson is the son of David and Ramona Glisson. He plans to go to Mississippi State and study Mechanical Engineering. He chose Melanie Bertsch as his special teacher.

John Kaspar is the son of Dorothy Kaspar and the late Richard Kaspar. He plans to attend Texas A&M to become a Chief Executive Officer. He chose Susie Morgan as his special teacher.

Jodie Kaspar is the daughter of Dorothy Kaspar and the late Richard Kaspar. She plans to attend Texas A&M to become a landscape architect. She chose Sherry Schmidt as her special teacher.

Cordale Knapik is the son of Tracy Knapik and the late Michael Knapik. He plans to attend the University of Arkansas and study Engineering. He chose Kristine Naiser as his special teacher.

Dalton Landis is the son of Marc and Susan Landis. He plans to join the U.S. Army. He chose Kevin Obkirchner as his special teacher.

Riley Lowe is the daughter of Brent and Tara Lowe. She plans to attend the University of Arkansas and study theater performance. She chose Laurie Stork as her special teacher.

Joy Moore is the daughter of Tracey Walker and Shevis Moore. She plans to attend either the University of Houston or Texas A&M and study Psychology. She chose Rusty Cauthern as her special teacher.

Meadow Taylor-Marklin was supported at the banquet by friends Caleb and Ashley Parks. She plans to attend the University of Alabama to study news media. She chose Lucy Carr as her special teacher.

Alejandro Ramirez is the son of Rogelio and Raquel Ramirez. He plans to attend Texas A&M to study Biology. He chose Brodney Pool as his special teacher.

Hunter Sabo is the son of Frank and Lisa Moellenberndt. He plans to attend Texas A&M and study civil engineering. He chose Heather Muesse as his special teacher.

Julie Vazquez is the daughter of Gregorio Vazquez. She plans to become an English professor. She chose Charles Griste as her special teacher.

Madeline Willrich is the daughter of Joseph and Kari Willrich. She plans to attend the University of Arkansas and study accounting. She chose Nicole Rerich as her special teacher.

Autumn Wolf is the daughter of Frank and Leah Wolf. She plans to attend Sam Houston State and study animation. She chose Christopher Cooper as her special teacher.

La Grange High School held its Academic Recognition Banquet Wednesday at the Casino Hall.

The 16 top students of the senior class each got to pick a special teacher to honor at the banquet.

Each student and their special teacher were brought to the stage as touching thoughts from each were read to the crowd by Master of Ceremonies James Herbrich, Fayette County Attorney.

The featured speaker was Jonathan Weishuhn, a 2016 La Grange High School grad, who graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Computer Science in 2020 and now works for Google in Austin.

Using examples from his own experience, he talked to the students about the relationship between success and failure.
