La Grange VFD Responds to Illegal Burn

La Grange firefighters Joey Krnavek and Kyle Oltmann put out a small fire in the rain on FM 3233 in Cozy Corner on Monday afternoon, March 21. The property owner, unaware of the burn ban, had lit a stack of logs. He told the Record he thought it was safe to burn since it was raining that day and the ground was saturated. Someone called 911 reporting it as a grass fire. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded and informed the man about the burn ban. The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department arrived a few minutes later and put out the fire. Photo by Andy Behlen
