La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day

LG Garden Club

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center, Inc. will host Game Day on Thursday, Feb. 27 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held every second and fourth Thursday of each month throughout 2025. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.

Guest Speaker

The La Grange Garden Club will have Jay White, owner and publisher of Texas Gardener magazine, as speaker at the February meeting. Preparing for spring planting will be the topic Mr. White will discuss. The lunch time Garden Club meetings are held at Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange. Regular monthly meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of the month with social time beginning at 11:30 a.m. followed by the speaker at 12. February’s meeting day will be Thursday, Feb. 27. No reservations are required. The La Grange Garden Club will give a rose trimming presentation at 11 a.m. March 6 at The Texas Quilt Museum’s Grandmother’s Garden. The public is invited.

Fayette Co. Relay

For Life Meeting

Relay For Life of Fayette County will be having a Team Captain meeting on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. in the La Grange City Hall Council Chambers. All Team Captains and anyone interested in starting a team are invited to attend. This is an important meeting so be sure to come. Relay For Life of Fayette County will be on April 12 at Leopard Stadium.

There’s more Round Top Lodge 151 will meet Thursday, Feb. 27 at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social hour is at 6 p.m. followed by meeting at 6:30 p.m. Members are asked to bring sandwiches, chips, desserts, etc. for the meal following the meeting.

Texas Mixer

The Texas Mixer, sponsored by the Carmine Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Busted Oak Cellars on Friday, Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome. Enjoy a complementary meal and meet your neighbors. Fayette County Beekeepers Association

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, March 1 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange (255 Svoboda Ln). A free Smoker Lighting Workshop will begin at 4 p.m. followed by a Beekeeping 101 presentation from 4:30-5:30 p.m. A perfect introduction for those new to beekeeping. A potluck dinner will follow, so bring your favorite entrée, side, or dessert to share. After dinner, the business meeting will feature guest speaker Sheri Wilcox, Texas Master Naturalist, discussing pollinators. This is a great chance for beginners to connect with experienced beekeepers for mentorship and advice. Annual membership is $25 per individual or family, but membership is not required to attend. FaycoBeeks meets the first Saturday of every month, and more information can be found at faycobeeks.org. Everyone is welcome.

Community League Baseball

A meeting to discuss the 2025 Community League Baseball Season will be held on Sunday, March 2 at 6 p.m. at the ballfield at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. If you are interested in participating or have general questions, feel free to call or text Roland Zoch (979) 966-9397.

Ammannsville KJT BBQ Chicken Benefit Join us for a barbecue fundraiser on Sunday, March 2 at the Ammannsville KJT Hall, 7904 Mensik Rd., Schulenburg. A drive-thru only barbecue chicken dinner plate with a half chicken, potatoes, and pinto beans will be served beginning at 11 a.m. for $13 per plate. No advanced sales. First come, first served. Proceeds will go to the Ammannsville KJT Building Fund.

Pork Barbecue & Sausage Meal

Fayetteville CDA No. 1440 will have their annual fundraiser on Sunday, March 2 at the Parish Hall. Pork barbecue and sausage meal tickets can be purchased in advance at the church office or Fayetteville Bank. Raffle tickets for a hand quilted quilt can be purchased at the bank and church also. A bake sale will also be available.

Texas Independence Day Holiday City of La Grange offices will be closed Monday, March 3

La Grange KC Fish Fry

The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host a drive-thru only Fish Fry Fundraiser Friday, March 7 and March 14 from 4-6 p.m. at the La Grange K of C Community Center located at 190 S. Brown St. in La Grange. The meal will consist of fried fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, pinto beans and buttered potatoes for $15 per plate. The meal is on a first come, first served basis.

Texas Tea and Texas Swing

Guests all over Texas are invited to attend a Texas Tea Party at Historic N. W. Faison House at 2 p.m. March 8. All guests will also be escorted to downtown shopping at the Farmer’s Market, boutiques and cafes around the square before tea, and special presentations at Texas Quilt Museum, Le Petite Gourmet Shoppe, Mac’s Daqs after tea, then off to Best Little Cowboy Gathering that evening for some swing and fiddle music and dancing, of course. Wall Shakers Prayer Workshop On Saturday, March 8, New Life Methodist Church, located at 1215 N. Von Minden in La Grange, invites you to a free “Wall Shakers” (based on Acts 4:31) Prayer Workshop from 9:30 a.m. (check in) to 3:30 p.m. led by Pastor Lauren Green Yates. At 10 a.m. Pastor Lauren will present training for individuals and church groups to enhance their prayer lives and the effectiveness of their prayer time through transformational, intentional and intercessory (TII) prayers. After a free light lunch, there will be guided breakout sessions to discuss aspects of her presentation regarding TII prayers, armor prayers, canopy prayers, community prayers and revolutionary prayers.
