La Grange High School Hosts Veterans Day Service

Retired Superintendent Erwin Sladek was one of the guest speakers at the La Grange High School Veterans Day Service. He spoke about his service in Vietnam as a U.S. Army military policeman. Retired school teacher Charles Griste was also a guest speaker at the Veterans Day Service. He spoke to the students about his service during the Vietnam War as an infantryman in the U.S. Marine Corps and the quality of perseverance: “You can be bitter or you can be better. There’s one letter difference between those two words – the letter ‘i.’ You can make the difference,” Griste said.

La Grange Middle School Student Council members recognized veterans from each branch of the U.S. Armed Services during the program Monday.

La Grange High School held a Veterans Day service in the High School Gym on Monday, Nov. 11. The school invited veterans from the local community to attend.

Retired La Grange Superintendent Erwin Sladek and retired school teacher Charles Griste were the guest speakers. They spoke to the students about their service during the Vietnam War. The Mighty Leopard Band played patriotic music and “Taps.” Members of the La Grange Middle School Student Council recognized each of the Armed Services.
