KJZT Family Life Society Quarterly Social Held
The 115th Anniversary of St. Frances of Rome, Society No. 31, KJZT Family Life of La Grange takes place in November, and on Nov. 7, the annual social and meeting was held at 4 p.m. at Sealand Restaurant.
President Elizabeth Kallus called the brief meeting to order and led opening prayers especially remembering deceased member Barbara Brauner.
Reading of the August 5th minutes were dispensed, treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read thank you cards, and correspondence from the KJZT State Office monthly newsletters that included information that the XXXVII Regular General Convention of KJZT Family Life is scheduled for July 12, 2025, and will take place at the KC Hall in La Grange.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report was given by Vice President Nicole Vasut and showed five special birthdays and two sympathies by Society No. 31, and thirteen enrollments by individuals. One cheer card was sent. There was one Mass intention for deceased member Barbara Brauner. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business - reminders were given: Catholic Schools Week Jan. 26-Feb 1, 2025, project; Sacred Heart Spring FestivalApril 13, 2025, plant wheel project; Thanksgiving food basket items for the Family Crisis Center were purchased and the basket will be delivered Nov. 21.
New business: KJZT State Christmas gifts for seminarians and Catholic Schools donation form were discussed. Election of 2025 Society No. 31 officers took place and current officers were re-elected President Elizabeth Kallus, Vice President Nicole Vasut, Secretary Marilyn Kothmann, and Treasurer Barbara Eilert. Election was held, and Elizabeth Kallus and Marilyn Kothmann will be the two delegates and Nicole Vasut and Barbara Eilert will be the two alternates for the July 12, 2025, State Convention.
District V State Director Joy Kovar informed members that the KJZT continues to be a very strong fraternal and she encouraged membership.
Attendance prize was won by Roy Kovar and the meeting closed with the Memorare Prayer and the prayer before the meal; and then the annual social was enjoyed. All in attendance received gifts of appreciation.
