KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Holds Quarterly Meeting Feb. 21
On Feb. 21, the first quarterly meeting of Society No. 31 of La Grange, St. Frances of Rome, KJZT Family Life was held at 4 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room. President Elizabeth Kallus called the meeting to order and led opening prayers especially remembering one member who had passed away since the previous quarterly meeting, Elizabeth Blaha. The pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited.
Reading of the Nov. 15, 2021 meeting minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, bills were approved for payment, and many thank you cards were read.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read correspondence from the KJZT State Office. Effective Nov. 17, 2021, Catherine Sylvester was appointed President/CEO; and effective Jan. 27, Cynthia Morris joined staff as Insurance Services Manager. KJZT Family Fun Day will be June 12 at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan. Board of Directors approved special donations of $50 to Catholic Schools nominated by Societies and $4,600 was given to area Catholic Schools.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Joy Kovar showed two special birthdays and nine sympathies by Society No. 31, and twenty-one enrollments by individuals. Four cheer cards were sent and one congratulatory baby card. The deceased member will be remembered with a Mass intention. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Unfinished business: During the recent Catholic Schools week, Society No. 31 presented thank you goodie bags to teachers and staff at Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange. The annual feast day Mass for Society No. 31 will be Saturday, March 12 at the 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Society No. 31 nominated four Catholic Schools in the special donations State project.
New business discussed: Feeding Families Across Texas donation to AMEN food pantry in La Grange; Flag Day proclamation signing in June for the Marshall Program; and Sacred Heart School Spring Festival on April 24.
District IV and V State Director Joy Kovar mentioned there are job openings at the State Office in Austin. She also complimented Society No. 31 on the programs they have undertaken.
Attendance prize was won by Rose Recek and the meeting closed with the Memorare prayer. The next meeting will be held May 16.
