KJZT Family Life Society Meets in LG

On Feb. 17, the first quarterly social of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Heart Room at Sacred Heart Church. President Elizabeth Kallus led opening prayers that included prayers for member Otillie Matocha who passed away on February 15.

Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the Nov. minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.

Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read several thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included KJZT Family Fun Day June 8, at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan; KJZT Junior Division raffle tickets are available; Cynthia Morris has been appointed to the State Office of Vice President; and The XXXVII Regular General Convention of KJZT Family Life will be held in La Grange at the KC Hall on Saturday, July 12, with a pre-convention social at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center on Friday, July 11.

KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Nicole Vasut showed five birthdays by Society No. 31, and ten enrollments by individuals. Two cheer cards were sent to members; and a Mass will be set for the intention of Otillie Matocha. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.

Unfinished business: On January 29 during Catholic Schools week, Society No. 31 presented 22 goody bags for the faculty, staff, and Fr. Chris at Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange. At the Sacred Heart School Spring Festival to be held Sunday, April 13, Society No. 31 will sponsor the plant wheel game.

New business: Kyle Janda’s ordination to the Diaconate was discussed. A decorated cake will be provided by Society No. 31 for the parish celebration event on Saturday, March 1. The annual feast day Mass for the intention of Society No. 31 will be Saturday, March 8, at the 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Flag Day proclamation signing will take place for the Marshall Program.

Invitation from KJZT Society No. 69 Assumption of the BVM in Smithville was received with RSVP date being by March 2 for the KJZT District V Annual Social to be held at St. Paul Parish Hall in Smithville on Sunday, March 9, beginning at 11 a.m. with registration.

Attendance prize was won by Nicole Vasut and the Memorare was the closing prayer. The next quarterly social will be held May 19.
