Kasmiersky Celebrates Milestone 80th Birthday
Janice Kasmiersky celebrated her 80th birthday on July 7 by attending Mass in Warrenton followed by a birthday blessing by Father Steve Sauser.
That evening, she was surprised with an 80th birthday party attended by friends in her Birthday Club. Guests welcomed her by singing Happy Birthday as she arrived. Everyone enjoyed a meal of her favorite ribs and sausage with various salads.
Before leaving, everyone was treated with a party favor.
City Council
The next City Council meeting takes place this Monday, July 20 at 7 p.m. in the City offices. City Council meetings are held every third Monday of the month.
Community Blood Drive
The community blood drive sponsored by the Fayetteville/ Ellinger Knights of Columbus will be held on Saturday July 25 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. The Gulf Coast Blood Center will be on the square near the old fire station. Donating blood helps save lives and the need is great. Dropins are welcome. Polka Dance
At the Second Sunday Polka Dance at the Fayetteville Community Center, there was no shortage of smiles as a lively group from Senior Connections, led by Program Director Stephanie Shroyer, joined in the fun. Senior Connections, a community-based non-profit serving the elderly population of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca Counties, promotes healthy aging through social interaction.
Mike Olle, vice president of business development for Fayette Savings Bank, and his wife, Sarah, joined in the fun at the dance. They caught up with Mayor Mike Stroup; Julie Stroup, Greater Fayetteville Chamber administrator and treasurer; Debbie Lincke, chamber vice president; and Dr. Crystal Gully, executive director of the Fayetteville Community Center. Fayette Savings Bank provided sponsorship funds for koozies promoting the Second Sunday Polka Dance.
Business Happenings
The kitchen at Westside Shamrock is taking Mondays off during the month of July.
Prohibition Liquor will be closing on Aug. 1.
Mobile Food Pantry
The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. this Saturday. Drive thru only. Backseats, trunks and truck beds need to be cleared out to make room for the bags and boxes of food. Volunteers are always appreciated.
Emerging Artist Contest The deadline to enter ARTS annual Emerging Artists Competition is Monday, July 20 at 4 p.m. This competition is open to students in grades 6-12. Entries of all media are accepted.
St. Paul Lutheran
St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Services are recorded every week, rotating among four Shared Lutheran Ministry churches and posted on the Facebook page for the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. Services are also featured on KTIM 89.1 Sundays at noon.
St. John the Baptist Catholic
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 5 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.
St. Mary Catholic Church St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
Fayetteville Brethren
Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 - 9:45 a.m.
