Judge Lifts Burn Ban; Urges Caution
Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller lifted the burn ban effective immediately Monday. The County reserves the right to reinstate the ban if windy and dry conditions return.
“We know that not all parts of the county received the same amount of rainfall, but there was enough to consider lifting the ban this morning. However, Judge Mueller has the right to reinstate the ban if conditions warrant it,” said Angela Hahn, Fayette County emergency management coordinator.
“We do urge everyone to use caution if they do burn,” said Judge Mueller. “Even though certain parts of the county got a few inches of rain, not everyone did. The forecast is calling for gusty winds to pick up this week, so it’s important to be aware of your surroundings and never leave a burn unattended. Also, make sure you call the Sheriff’s Department to let them know you are going to burn.”
The Sheriff Department’s non-emergency phone number is 968-5856.
