Janecka Wins State Discus Title
Flatonia senior Ali Janecka is a state champion.
Janecka hurled a discus farther than she ever had before Friday at the state track meet to win the girls 2A discus competition.
Her throw of 132-feet, 11-inches beat state runner-up Lauren Olson of Mason by almost five feet.
Janecka was fifth at the state meet last year, but came back this season on a mission.
Here’s what Janecka said winning a state title means to her:
“Winning the state title means setting goals and putting in the time and hard work to get better,” Janecka said. “It means sacrificing a lot of fun times with your friends and family to go and practice. Winning means persevering through the hard times and injuries and remaining optimistic and seeing your hard work and dreams come true. I would like to express my gratitude to all of my family, friends, coaches, and community for supporting me throughout my hunt for the State Title.”
