Round Top – Carmine ISD The first day of school is just around the corner – how in the world did that happen? All students returning to RTC ISD must complete the online registration each year via the online “Parent Portal” The school supply lists are now available online as well.

The “Back to School Welcome Walk” for incoming seventh graders and new junior high and high school students will be on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Meet in the high school cafeteria at 5 p.m. for lockers and schedules. An athletic meeting and coach introduction will be in the high school gym at 6 p.m. This is for new athletes only. At least one parent must attend.

Returning 8 – 12 graders need to reserve a time slot for Chromebook distribution, class schedule pick-up, and parking spots, if applicable. Online returning student registration must be completed prior. To schedule a time, use the Google form at this link: https://forms.gle/NZuACk-8MCtTtnk79A. “Back to School Night” for elementary school students, is Thursday, Aug. 7 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The Title 1 meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Library. A meeting for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade parents begins at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. Bagged and labeled school supplies may be dropped off at this time. For students in pre-k, kindergarten, first, second, and third grades, please drop off your supplies in your student’s classroom.

Round Top Rifle Hall 

Head back to the Round Top Rifle Hall in August as the Monday Night Hamburger Socials start back up. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. Festival Hill

Tickets are now available for a Chamber Music Concert Saturday, Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. Four virtuoso musicians will perform a program of chamber music by three great composers in their youth, each exploring the key of C in their own unique voices. Round Top Family Library

St. Martin’s Catholic Church St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Warrenton holds a monthly Mass the first Tuesday of the month at 8 a.m. The next Mass will be August 5. More information can be found at stjohnfayetteville. com/st-martin.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church meets for worship Sundays at 9:30 a.m. You can also watch the service on their YouTube channel found at https://tinyurl.com/yc77f2vj at 9:30 a.m. Enjoy donuts and coffee in the Educational Building prior to the worship on Sunday,Aug. 3 from 8:30-9 a.m. Adult Bible Study will be Aug. 6 at 7 p.m. Sewing Circle will meet Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 9:30 a.m. Ruth Circle will meet Thursday, Aug. 14 at 9:30 a.m. The church is accepting empty medicine bottles as a part of the “Matthew 25 Ministries Project”, which reuses the bottles to improve medical care in developing countries. Donations may be dropped off in the designated bins in the church kitchen. Please ensure these are clean, recapped, label-free, and residue- free prescription or overthe- counter pill bottles.

St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby services are at 8 a.m. Fellowship, Coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday at 2 p.m. Quilting is held the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Warrenton St. John’s is part of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. They meet for Sunday Worship at 8:30 a.m.

Round Top Church Christian Fellowship Round Top Church meets at 8:45 a.m. for Bible Study, followed by a 10 a.m. service.

St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church Worship services are held Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.

Hermann Sons Life 

Round Top/Shelby Hermann Sons Lodge met for their regular monthly meeting on Thursday evening, July 24, at the American Legion Hall with social hour starting at 6 p.m., followed with the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Linda Mattocks, President, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Linda reported that she knew of no injuries, only a road closing, at the Hermann Sons camp due to the July floods in the Hill country. A monetary donation will be sent to the home office for each of the lodges affected by the flood, namely Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point and Comfort. Discussion of giving opportunities gave all members an insight to each lodge’s activities.

The annual Country Store at the Ledbetter VFD fundraiser is planned for October. Collections for CASA will begin in October with the presentation at the Dec. 14 Social and Christmas party.

A moment of silent prayer was observed for Floyd Braun, 92, who passed away July 15.

A memorial was given in his memory to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine.

Happy birthday was sung to Valgene Ebner for his birthday on July 29. A round of applause to Norwood Hackemack who never missed a meeting in Shelby and now attends Round Top, coming from Pecan Grove. Attendance prizes were won by Roy Pieper, Bob Porter, Leonard Meinkowksy, Carmen Ebner and Linda Mattocks. Thanks to Sophie Rauch for assisting Linda Mattocks. A big thank you to the new serving committee of Mary, Melanie, and Sophie Rauch, Bob and Betty Porter, and Valgene and Carmen Ebner. The lunch was most delicious. Refreshments, lunch and fellowship was enjoyed by all.
