Hungry Driver Gets a Warning

Don’t eat and drive – that’s the advice a driver in Schulenburg got after getting pulled over by police.

According to a call log from the Schulenburg Police Department, Officer Reyden Svatek was patrolling US 77 on the north side of town just before midnight last Wednesday, Jan. 8., when he noticed an erratic driver. Svatek reported that he saw the subject drive over the curb while turning left on the Interstate 10 frontage road. Svatek followed the vehicle and noticed it swerving and driving at a slow rate of speed.

In his report, Svatek said he had “reasonable suspicion the subject could be intoxicated.”

Svatek stopped the vehicle and saw that the driver was eating some food from Whataburger. The driver stated he was heading home.

According to the call log, Svatek “advised him to drive and not eat.”
