Home and Two Trailers Burn North of La Grange
A home north of La Grange burned to the ground Sunday morning, Aug. 10.
The house was located on property along US 77 North near Bear Creek Rd. La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee said his department got the call around 9:57 a.m. He said the house was on fire with about an acre of grass burning around it when the first firefighters arrived.
La Grange Volunteer Fire Department responded with four trucks and eight firefighters. They called for assistance from Winchester Volunteer Fire Department, who arrived with a grass truck, a tanker and six firefighters.
Menefee said the house was destroyed. The cause was unknown at this time, he said. Menefee said the home had been recently remodeled. No one was at the property when firefighters arrived, he said.
“My understanding is that they had no insurance,” Menefee said.
Two trailers parked nearby also burned in the fire, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies Joe Gonzales and Wesley Arrison from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene as well, along with an ambulance and personnel from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. There were no injuries.
The fire was extinguished and first responders left the scene around 12:37 p.m.
