La Grange is mourning the loss of a local man and trying to help his family with funeral expenses.

Luis Baltazar Hernandez passed away Aug. 23 but he did not have life insurance. He was well known as a manager a Reba’s Pizza for a quarter century.

“He was a super hard worker. He always had a smile on his face,” said Kimberly Schroeder daughter of Reba’s owner Joseph Schroeder. “His wife worked at Rebas, his son and daughter worked at Reba’s. Our families are meshed.”

Here is a tribute, Kimberly wrote: “The Reba’s Family and community has suffered a terrible loss in the passing of our beloved manager and friend Luis Baltazar Hernandez.

“Luis has been an integral part of Reba’s.The backbone of our business. He had true genuine love and concern for our business, the community and his employees. There wasn’t a situation Luis couldn’t handle or something he couldn’t fix and always with a smile on his face. He put his heart into arenas and his family.

“Luis was there at the very beginning of our dream when we first opened on the square in La Grange over 25 years ago. Luis and his family grew to be our family. We have watched each others kids grow up and our grandchildren start to grow and work here together at Reba’s.

“Joseph Schroeder, the owner of Reba’s, considered Luis to be his friend, his brother, the very heart of Reba’s. Joe could not have built up this business without Luis at his side.

“He was so loved and will be missed immensely “All of our love and prayers go out to Luis’s family.”
