Healthy Home Cooking Series Focused on Diabetes-Friendly Recipes Offered

A Healthy Home Cooking Series: Pan to Plate – Diabetes Friendly Cooking is being offered through the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County. The workshops will start on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 5:30-7 p.m. and continue on Oct. 9 and 16. The sessions will be held in Room 104 at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange.

The series will have a focus on planning healthy family meals with an emphasis on diabetes friendly recipes. Each class will include hands-on activities, food tastings, and an educational session on the following topics:

• Understanding Carbohydrate Foods

• Reducing Sodium & Increasing Fiber in your Meals

• Making Recipes with Fat Better for You

• Celebrating Sensibly The cost of the series is $30 and scholarships are available upon request. The deadline to register is Sept. 30. Please contact the Fayette County Extension Office at (979) 968--5831 regarding questions or to register for the series.
