Hay Baler Catches Fire
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports early Friday afternoon around 4:46 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a hay baler, round bales, and a hay meadow fire on Baron Rd. off St. Hwy 159 in the Fayetteville area.
The Fayetteville Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene with EMS Unit Medic 2, Deputy James Ulbig, and Game Warden Shaun Bayless.
Upon arrival it was reported a hay baler was on fire. A hay field and several round bales of hay were also burning.
The Fayetteville Fire Department requested assistance from The La Grange and Round Top Warrenton Fire Departments for grass trucks and a tanker. The fire was quickly contained and the burning six round bales were left to burn in the burned area.
The cause of the fire is believed to be from a bad bearing on the hay baler.
