Residents of Fayette County were treated to a concert by “The Gray Legacy Bluebird Choir” at the Bugle Boy Wednesday afternoon as part of the Bugle Boy Foundation’s music-based outreach programs.

This program, called SongBuddies, is led by Grammy Award winning musicians Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines, who spent two days working with ten students at Gray Legacy Services facility with the assistance of supervisor Jeanie Allen. The music presented ranged from Country to Rock and included several original songs, including one presented in sign language by a hearing challenged participant. Also on display was artwork by the Mary Gray Foundation residents presented by Kim Anderson.

In attendance were representatives from other community partners including Board and staff of ARTS for Rural Texas and Texas A&M’s AgriLife Extension Services, demonstrating the strong collaboration between many community organizations.

Also in attendance were past participants in the Song-Buddies program who were thrilled to reunite with their friends Terri and Lloyd.

This SongBuddies program was funded by the Bugle Boy Foundation thanks to grants from the Texas Women’s League, The Second Chance Emporium, The Stanzel Family Foundation, The Mary Gray Foundation, The St. James Episcopal Women’s group and generous individuals who donate to the Bugle Boy Foundation’s outreach programs.
