Grand Jury Hands Down 14 Indictments
A Fayette County Grand Jury handed down 14 indictments on Jan. 20.
An indictment is not a finding of guilt. Rather, a grand jury issues an indictment when it finds enough evidence to formally accuse someone of a crime. The following individuals are presumed innocent unless found guilty by a court.
Traveon Devondre Barnett, 30 of Houston, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams, allegedly committed on May 5, 2021.
Alexander Garcia, 31 of Houston, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram, allegedly committed on July 4, 2021.
Darcy Ann Newland, 25 of Giddings, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram, allegedly committed on July 31, 2021.
Jose Alexander Diaz, 41 of Houston, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram, allegedly committed on July 11, 2020.
Ethan Christopher Denning, 23 of Victoria, was indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity, allegedly committed on Dec. 26, 2021.
Chritina Gayle Smith, 38 of Inez, was indicted for engaging in organized criminal activity, allegedly committed on Dec. 26, 2021.
Robert Michael Allen, 36 of La Grange, was indicted for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, allegedly committed on Oct. 20, 2021.
Rachelle Dawn Gutierrez, 55 of La Grange, was indicted for burglary of a building, allegedly committed on Nov. 28, 2021.
Courtney Tyler Bridgeman, 35 of La Grange, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams, allegedly committed on May 29, 2021.
Shanta Renae Earthly, 43 of San Antonio, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to one gram but less than four grams, allegedly committed on May 29, 2021.
Billie Jean Janecka, 44 of Schulenburg, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram, allegedly committed on June 13, 2020.
Albert James Wright, 47 of Schulenburg, was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, less than one gram, allegedly committed on June 13, 2020.
Aaron Dwayne Hunt, 34 of Gonzales, was indicted for terroristic threat against of peace officer or judge, allegedly committed on Dec. 5, 2021.
Gerrod Lee Butler, 30 of Schulenburg, was indicted for forgery of a financial instrument, allegedly committed on June 14, 2021.
