Getting to Know the Next County Judge

Fayette County Judge-Elect Josh Homan mingled with County officials and citizens during a break in the Commissioners Court meeting last Thursday, May 28. Homan narrowly won the Republican runoff for County Judge by 14 votes according to unofficial results from the Fayette County Elections Office. The Commissioners Court is scheduled to canvas the election at a special meeting this Thursday, June 4. Fayette County Elections Administrator Donna Macik said a partial manual recount conducted last week confirmed the vote totals calculated on election night, May 26. Macik said there were a few mail-in ballots with technical mistakes that voters could correct before canvasing takes place. She said those ballots could change the count by a few votes. However, Macik said she was confident the outcome will not change. Homan’s opponent, Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever, was not in attendance at last Thursday’s Commissioners Court meeting. Vandever had previously told the Record that he was waiting on the results of the partial manual recount before deciding whether to request a complete recount. Macik said that as of Sunday morning, Vandever had not requested a recount. Photo by Andy Behlen
