Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter’s (GJAS) annual Homeward Bound fundraiser was a hit. “Vanity Fur” held at Carmine Hall on May 17, and the community came together in support of the nonprofit and succeeded in raising much needed funds for the community animal shelter.

GJAS provides an essential public safety service for Fayette County and funds are used to care for and provide safe and temporary housing, minor medical attention, and spay and neuter for every dog and cat that leaves the shelter.

The delightful event included silent and live auctions, delicious food and drink and the “Vanity Fur” Catwalk where locals brought their own pampered pooches to join the entertainment. The guests cast their vote for: Overall Best in Show, Best Duo, Most Fashionable, Best Ears, Best Wiggle Butt Strutt, and Best Tail Wagger.

If you missed this event in support of GJAS, keep an eye out for the shelter’s South Fayette County Event – Happy Tails, on September 20 at the KC Hall in Schulenburg.
