Friday is Last Day To Get on Local Election Ballots
City and school board elections will take place on May 3. The first day to file for a place on the ballot was Jan. 15. The last day to file is this Friday, Feb. 14, by 5 p.m., unless stated otherwise below.
Listed below are the positions up for election in Fayette County, along with those who have filed as of the end of last week. An asterisk (*) indicates an incumbent:
City of La Grange
Mayor - Jan Dockery*
• Councilmember Ward 1 - No one has filed as of last Thursday. Katie Gross is the incumbent.
• Councilmember Ward 2 - Ken Taylor*
• Councilmember Ward 3 - Bonnie Busch*
• Councilmember Ward 4 - No one has filed as of last Thursday. Chris Jernigan is the incumbent.
City of Schulenburg
• Mayor - Connie Koopmann*
• Alderman Place 1 - Greg Thomas* and Jeffery Reich-Hale
• Alderman Place 2 - Frank Wick III*
City of Flatonia
Flatonia will hold an at-large election for three council seats. Incumbents Ginny Sears and Joayne Eversole have filed for reelection. Donna Cockrell is the other incumbent, but neither she nor anyone else have filed as of last Thursday.
City of Fayetteville
So far, only the incumbents have filed:
• Mayor - Mike Stroup*
• Alderman Palce 2 - Cade Burkes*
• Alderman Place 4 - Kelly Brooks*
Town of Round Top
Round Top will hold an at-large election for three council seats. Karen Duddlesten*, Brooke Michie and David Barr have filed for a spot on the ballot. The other two incumbents, Amy Bone and Jeanette Burger, have not filed as of last Thursday.
City of Carmine
So far, only the incumbents have filed:
• Alderman Place 1 - Rhonda Meeks*
• Alderman Place 3 - Bobby Sharp*
• Alderman Place 5 - Anita Drydale*
City of Ellinger
So far, only the incumbents have filed:
• Mayor - Matt Mikulenka*
• Commissioner - Cullen Weishuhn*
La Grange ISD
So far, only the incumbents have filed:
• Place 1 - Anthony Wessels*
• Place 2 - Travis Ulrich*
• Place 3 - Mary White Gunn* Schulenburg ISD
SISD will hold an at-large election for two seats on the school board. Two incumbents, Joel “Boone” Blansitt and Shannon Hollas, have filed, along with Stephanie Prihoda.
Flatonia ISD
So far, only the incumbents have filed.
• Place 1 - Dan Sullivan*
• Place 2 - Jessica Morrell*
• Place 3 - Pastor Tim Rowell* Fayetteville ISD
So far, only the incumbents have filed.
• Place 3 - Mark Schmitt*
• Place 7 - Rodney Beseda* The filing deadline for Fayetteville ISD is 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14.
Round Top-Carmine ISD
RTC ISD will see some big changes on the school board. The school reported that three of the incumbents do not plan to seek re-election: Calvin Krause, Al Gross and Clint Eilers. In addition, the Place 5 incumbent, Carl Schobel, has resigned. Listed below are those who have filed so far:
• Place 1 - Owen Massey
• Place 2 - Dusty Bernshausen
• Place 6 - Jason Wagner*
• Place 7 - Bryn Bohnke RTC ISD will also hold a special election for Place 5 since incumbent Carl Schobel has resigned. The winner will serve a two-year unexpired term. Two people have filed for that place so far: Bryan Kirts and Kyle Fricke.
