Fourteen-Year-Old Caught After Burglary of Tobacco World in LG

La Grange Police say they nabbed a juvenile burglar redhanded last Friday, April 4, thanks to an alert witness.

Police Chief David Gilbreath said officers got a call around 9:50 p.m. last Friday about a burglary in progress at Angel Tobacco World, located at 811 E. Travis St. Gilbreath said a witness saw the breakin taking place and alerted police right away. Officers arrived and observed the front glass door of the business had been broken and merchandise scattered in the parking lot. A witness told officers they saw the break-in and a white male running away towards the railroad tracks.

Officers searched the area and located a 14-year-old subject.

“The juvenile subject still had several stolen items on his person,” Gilbreath said.

Officers detained the juvenile and handed him over to the Fayette County Juvenile Probation Department. The juvenile was then sent to a juvenile detention facility in Victoria County, Gilbreath said.
