Founder’s Park Work Nearly Complete
Fayette County’s Founders Park renovations should be complete by the end of next month. The renovations include new restrooms and a County tourism office.
The pocket park is located on the west side of the Fayette County Clerk’s Office on Colorado Street in La Grange.
Last year Commissioners nixed the plans for the tourism office in favor of just restrooms over escalating construction costs. The Court brought back the office after learning that the County could use American Rescue Plan (ARP) money it received from the Federal Government last year on tourismrelated activities.
The project is estimated to cost about $300,000. LB Locke Construction is the general contractor
The Lower Colorado River Authority gave a $50,000 grant to the project, which will be applied to the cost of the restrooms. The City of La Grange and Fayette County will split the remaining cost of the restrooms, which amounts to $100,350 each. The County will pay for the office space with ARP funds. The cost of the office is $62,445.
