Cattle prices are the highest some folks can ever remember, with really young calves bringing four figures.

“Unbelievable ... No words ... True Story ... Money! Money! Money!” posted the Flatonia Livestock Commission after Monday’s sale report, which included young steers averaging nearly five dollars a pound. The story was the same over at the Giddings auction Monday. What’s the reason?

“Cattle inventories are lowest in generations while consumer beef demand remains robust” stated a recent headline in the Wall Street Journal.
