Former LG Cop Corb Involved In Interesting Saga in Jacksboro

Former La Grange Police Officer and Fayette County Judge candidate Bryan Corb resigned from his job as the Jacksboro Police Chief last week, along with the rest of his officers.

ABC-affiliate WFAA of Dallas reports that the entire Jacksboro Police Department resigned, leaving the Jack County Sheriff’s Office to handle law enforcement duties within the city. Jacksboro is located about 60 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

The TV station reported that it obtained a letter of grievance from the Jacksboro Police Association against City Manager Mike Smith, citing in part, “poor leadership qualities, asking the city council and mayor to take action.”

Smith claims that the police department tried setting him up for a drunk driving arrest last year. WFAA reports that on Dec. 7, Smith was pulled over by a Texas Ranger for a broken tail light. No signs of alcohol were found during that stop. Following the incident, Smith placed Chief Corb and two officers on paid administrative leave. The district attorney and Texas Rangers conducted an investigation, but they found no signs of wrong-doing by the officers, the TV station reports. All three were re-instated.

Some Jacksboro officers began resigning in January, and WFAA reports that as of last Wednesday, Chief Corb and the remaining nine officers have resigned.

Corb served as a La Grange Police Officer for three years from 2011 to 2014. He unsuccessfully ran for Fayette County Judge in the 2018 election.
