Flatonia Band Heading to Area
The Flatonia Bulldog Marching Band under the new direction of Mr. Justin Bartlett is headed to the UIL Area D marching contest on Nov. 2 in Groesbeck. The band competed this past weekend at the UIL Region 18/26 contest in Giddings earning a first division rating qualifying them a spot at area. The band has made huge strides in just a few months and students have exceeded every expectation and continue to raise the bar this year for our program. It is exciting to see their hard work and determination pay off. The show this year is titled Rise, featuring “Symphony No. 40” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the “The Firebird Suite” by Igor Stravinsky, and “My Shot” from Lin Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton. “I would like to thank all our band parents, the community of Flatonia and our administration for all that they do and support of our band program,” said Bartlett. “Also a huge thank you to the rest of our band staff for their hard work and dedication Mr. Julia Allen Assistant Band Director, and Amanda Bass Color Guard Instructor.” Pictured below are the Flatonia band staff: Assistant Director Julia Allen, Color Guard Instructor Amanda Bass, and Director of Bands Justin Bartlett.
