First Communion Celebrated
Colette and David Varner were thrilled to have their granddaughter, Layla Aelmore, who just turned six, receive her First Communion on Sunday, Jan. 30. She and her parents, Whitney and Johnathan Aelmore came in from Fulshear to celebrate Layla’s First Communion. The service took place at United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Swiss Alp near Schulenburg, Colette and David’s church home. Following the service the family celebrated with a barbecue meal.
Out and About
Winter is not the normal camping season for Ron and Pam Knotts, but they spent a week on the road recently with their travel trailer and really enjoyed their adventure. They found the heater in the trailer worked well and kept them quite cozy.
This trip took Ron and Pam to Arkansas where they had to drive in a snow storm. They spent several days at Tyler State Park, one of their favorites. They are already making plans for when the weather warms up to check out more state parks.
I have been out and about again. After a brief stay at home, Alayna Kidd picked me back up and we spent the week down in Houston at the Houston Boat and Auto Show working Alayna’s booth, Spur Ranch Jewelry. It was a fun time seeing everyone out and about again, seeing old friends and making new ones in the process.
Weather
Muldoon has been seeing some colder weather recently. On Thursday morning a cold blast came in with winter weather advisories. Everyone in the area was busy earlier in the week wrapping pipes and winterizing outdoor areas. This round is looking more like an ice event versus last year’s snow event, but after 2021’s crazy weather.
Muldoon also has seen some rain in the area. Enough rain fell above the area that there was some water over the road on Old Smithville between Pin Oak and Buckner Creek.
Bible Study
The Ladies Bible Study “It’s Under Control”, being led by Jennifer Rightmer was postponed a week due to the winter weather conditions. The study will begin on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. in the Seller’s Center at Flatonia Baptist Church. Books will be available for purchase for $15 or you can get a copy on your own. If you have not let Jennifer know about books or have questions, please contact her at (979) 561-6530.
This will be a journey to letting go of the things you cannot control, finding strength to hang on tighter to those you can and finally learning to tell the difference. It is not a journey of “doing less;” it’s about becoming more of who God has truly created you to be.
