Fire Burns Home in Ammannsville

Fire Burns Home in Ammannsville

A home on FM 1383 near Ammannsville burned to the ground Sunday morning, Feb. 13.

Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department received the call around 1:30 a.m. The home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Two occupants made it out of the home without injury. They lost all of their belongings, however.

Schulenburg Assistant Fire Chief Drew Brossmann said the occupants reported that the fire possibly started from a candle that got knocked over by their pet during the night.

Schulenburg VFD responded with five fire trucks and 15 personnel. They requested assistance from La Grange VFD, which sent a tanker and five additional personnel.

“I want to give a big thank you to La Grange,” Brossmann said. “It was really cold that morning, and we appreciate the help,”

Brossmann said the Schulenburg firefighters brought the occupants to a hotel in Schulenburg and provided them with a room for the day.

“They lost everything,” Brossmann said.
