Fiber Optic Cut Disrupts Phone and Internet Service - Again

Lots of La Grange area residents lost phone services on Wednesday morning, June 26. The disruption was due to a cut fiber optic line belonging to Frontier Communications.

It was the third time in two weeks for a fiber optic line cut to sever communications in the County. Fayette County 911 dispatchers had to reroute calls to Lee County during the outage, which lasted about four hours.

A line cut severed 911 service in Fayette County last Friday, June 21, as well. Communications were down for about eight hours that time.

According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the fiber optic line belonged to Frontier Communications. A team of technicians from Frontier Communications was working on the side of US 77 south of Warda Friday afternoon.

Fayette County lost 911 service for about 11 hours on June 12 when workers clearing the right-of-way for the US 77 expansion project severed a fiber optic cable north of La Grange. Emergency calls were routed to Lee County for that incident as well.
