Vietnam Veterans
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammansville KJT Hall located in Ammansville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Marine Corps

Grief Group
Hospice Brazos Valley is offering a Caregivers Support group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. There’s more TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. This being the first meeting of the New Year of 2025, Christmas Veterans’ visit reports will be given as well as discussion of other business matters. Members are encouraged to attend. New potential members are invited to attend and if interested in this service organization may join at this meeting. A light meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by their respective meetings.
La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day
The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host game day on Thursday, Jan. 9 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Join the Fayette County Democratic Party for their next quarterly meeting on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fayette Public Library, Conference Room, located at 855 S. Jefferson St. in La Grange.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter.
Weimar Farmers Market
The Weimar Farmers Market will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, always the second Saturday of the month, at the City Pavilion/Municipal Park located at 106 W. Market St. in Weimar. The market is open from at 8 a.m. - noon. Vendors are needed and the fee is $15.
Hermann Sons Life
Hermann Sons Life Shelby will meet Sunday, Jan. 12 for its quarterly meeting at Harmonie Hall in Shelby beginning at 5 p.m. Members please bring a snack or dessert.
Round Top Family Library Chili Cook-Off The Round Top Family Library 20th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be held Sunday, Jan. 19 at 12 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. Music will be by the Black Cat Choir. Tickets are $10 (children under 12 are free). Want to cook? La Grange Show Fund Fun Night
The 21st Annual La Grange Show Fund Fun Night will be held on Jan. 11, at the Round Up Hall Fair Pavillion. Invitations have been mailed out. We have single entrance tickets available for purchase at Fayette Savings Bank in La Grange and also available from any Show Fund member. This ticket includes a rib-eye steak dinner, drinks, dessert and the opportunity to play games. This event directly supports the 4H and FFA students that participate in the Fayette County Junior Livestock Show. KC Fried Chicken & Sausage Benefit The La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will hold a drive-thru only fried chicken and sausage dinner benefitting local charities on Sunday, Jan. 12 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Community Center located at 190 Brown St. in La Grange. The meal includes fried chicken, sausage, sauerkraut, green beens and buttered potatoes for $15 per plate. First come, first served.
Retired Teachers Meeting
The Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Monday, Jan. 13 in the Fellowship Hall of the New Life Methodist Church, 1215 Von Minden Road in La Grange, for a chapter meeting at 1:45 p.m. All retired teachers and school personnel are welcome to attend. Teacher Appreciation baskets will be prepared for Fayette County schools. Bring goodies and snacks to celebrate our hardworking educators.

La Grange ISD is taking nominations for grades 1-11 for the gifted and talented program for the 2025-2026 school year. The gifted and talented program is designed to provide additional challenge and stimulation for academically talented students. Parents, teachers, and community members may nominate students currently enrolled in LGISD to participate in the screening process to determine eligibility for the gifted program. Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations
The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
